Following the river Mangfall downstream brought us quickly to Rosenheim and the river Inn.
We had coffee, and spent a happy hour touring a major exhibition on life in Egypt, housed in a converted locomotive roundhouse. This had artefacts from museums around the world, and was well presented. The place was packed with families on holiday.

Afterwards we wandered around the centre of town for a while, before a quick picnic lunch and setting off upstream on the Inn cycle path.

Very soon we had left the relatively flat Bavarian uplands behind and were in amongst the Alps proper. Cycling along with mountains to gaze up at is just fantastic. And a tailwind too!
At Kufstein we stopped for the day. We’ve had topfelstrudel for the first time, and walked round Kufstein castle.

But Kufstein’s main claim to fame is as the hometown of Josef Madersperger, the inventor of the sewing machine. And, yes, there is a sewing machine museum in his memory, though somehow we have failed to visit.
Glad Helen arrived OK. Looks like you’re having fun. Off to Morecambe tomorrow to ride Way of the Roses Thursday. It does look a long way!
