Seattle July 2nd and 3rd 2015

Man, it’s hot!  For someone used to June in Yorkshire this is a shock to the system. But a pleasant one. 92 degrees in American money.

Seattle has been great. The views across the water to the Olympic mountains are fantastic – and Mt Rainier is a superb snow-covered cone dominating the skyline.

The picture is of Waterfront Park, where the ride starts on Saturday. But for the moment we’re acclimatising. This involves sampling the local IPA from Pikes Brewery on the waterfront, a microbreweryin a pub.

Friday was spent at the Museum of Flight at Boeing Field. This has a first class collection of aircraft and spacecraft throughout the entire history of flight. The highlights for me were a tour of Air Force One (and practicing the presidential wave whilst walking down the steps) and standing in the Space Shuttle payload bay (the genuine training mockup). Anyway, it kept us busy all day. The photo is an Austrian WW1 plane that looked like something from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!

The bus ride to get there had an incredible bunch of oddball characters getting on and off. All part of the entertainment!

Can’t wait to start riding tomorrow.
